Carpet floors have 100 walk speed and provide 2 beauty each meaning it can cause a pleasant environment happy thought in sufficient amounts.

Hospitals get sterile tile if at all possible of course and i often do outdoor paths in concrete especially in the beginning.
So here s the thing.
Only wood and concrete can be placed faster than carpet and carpet has a beauty of 2 compared to wood flooring 0 and concrete 1.
Wood floors are very rare for me basically only if i m playing as tribals don t have stonecutting yet and don t have enough scavenged blocks to make it happen.
Carpet has the same beauty value as smoothed stone and is far faster to build but flammable.
Carpet has 2 wood has 0 smoothed floor has 3.
Smoothed 3 beauty carpet 2 beauty.
Where as smoothed stone doesn t burn require any resources but takes much more time to make and gives less wealth to a room.

If i m not mistaken carpet is flammable as well versus stone which is not.
Basically the room impressiveness is based on many factors and wealth being one of them.
Tiles with a cleanliness bonus bring better success rates in hospitalized quarters as they help prevent the posssibility of infection.
Smooth stone is better for beauty but it doesn t count anything towards wealth.

For floorless rooms 10 tile is the minimum to feasibly achieve slightly impressive 14 15 tiles for somewhat impressive 4 22 tiles for very impressive 5.
Stone tile also takes four times the work to place compared to carpet.
