If you removed 2 entire walls and the corner between those two sides last then that roof was too far away from any other supports.
You can add supports and it will automatically roof or you can manually add the max roof the supports will handle.
And that is for everywhere from every side.

Jul 31 2016 9 13am think there are a couple of things that affect building roofs.
A roof can extend up to 6 tiles from a wall so roofed interiors have a maximum size of 12 cells across the shortest side.
That means the 7th tile must be supprted.
If there is any tile with is not in that range the roof will not be builded or that tile will not be builded.
A pawn assigned to construction will automatically build the roof when there are enough structures in.
It is usefull for a trade becon stockpile roofed zone.
If not it will not automatically roof.

Right but i m talking about when i am building a big room and believe i have built enough roof supports only to find there is one or more unroofed tiles but can t find the dumb sunbeams for whatever reason.
You can only have a roof out to i believe 6 tiles from a wall otherwise it ll collapse.

This was a big help because at least i now know that roofs need support and if you have large sections without any walls doors it might not be able to support a roof.
The roof is supported far as 6 tiles.

This mod will allow you to build patios covered walkways or massive rooms without collapsing the ceiling.
This means that the largest square room you can have is 10x10 internal.
